The path of least resistance

Week after week, I want to reach out and share some inspiring thoughts to help those of you who are feeling frustrated, anxious, down and plain fed up.

Without sounding too prescriptive or trite,  I want to find uplifting words to help:
  • combat the frustration of not being able to make plans
  • overcome the loneliness from lack of contact and connection
  • find energy in spite of the tiresomeness of being with people 24/7 or working around the clock (or both)
  • increase your motivation and work towards a few modest goals
  • loosen the grip of self-doubt and anxiety

Here goes:
Find the path of least resistance – that is, choose a way of being and a course of action that is the least taxing, the least demanding and difficult, but still allows for opportunities to create meaning. Stay mentally and physically healthy & strong. Find daily moments of quiet and solitude.

The fear and the reality of COVID, combined with the impulse for safety can contribute to various constrictions – in our bodies and minds. Find ways around this, so that you can feel open, carefree and light-hearted.

Regards,
Coach Minda

p.s While masks make it difficult to connect, I have found that eye contact is much much more interesting.

Thank you, Miinda!
I can see this post becoming a forum for sharing our experiences on how we execute - build resilience and continue enjoying life - because 'Yes, We Can'.
So, this is what it means to me:
First and foremost – take a deep breath, literally and metaphorically speaking. Important! 😊
It’s hard to make long term plans nowadays – the chances are that it will fail, and failure feels horrible. So, I chose to work towards my goals and make weekly (at most monthly) plans, and if I need to adjust – so be it.
Be creative and take initiative in organizing social ‘virtual’ events around what I ENJOY and with people that I LIKE. Thanks to technology, we can have online experiences. Examples of what I build my social ‘gatherings’ around:
- inviting my friends to online workouts with the studio ELMNT, which I called my second home before the pandemic. And we often stay online after – catching up and having a drink.
- Cooking with friends from all over the world - Zoom. I would build it at times around an event that is offered on Airbnb Experiences
- Taking online courses with a couple of friends that share my interests.
- Having a remote dinner with my family and friends. We live in Montreal, and many upscale restaurants are offering amazing meals at a very affordable price, and they do free deliveries. Check out Nora Gray Sunday Family Dinners on Shopico.ca Greater Montreal, as an example.
- Enjoy the outdoors, in very small groups – whatever the rules permit. It could be playing Molkky or Petangue, or strolling in the woods.
The hardest thing for me is learning to ‘enjoy my wonderful self’ – quoting my forever dear and much appreciated Coach Minda. It is still a struggle. Feeling lonely is painful. And yet…
In a strangest way – I see this time as an opportunity to connect to myself, to learn who I am and what makes me happy. On a sunny day like this, I will make hot chocolate from scratch, add a touch of warming booze to it, put it in a thermos cup and take it for a walk. No ear buds, just quiet... and listening to the sound of my feet sinking in deliciously smelling leaves on the ground.
‘Take it easy, Dude’ – the famous phrase taken from ‘The Big Lebowski’. /If you did not see the movie, you are up for a big treat/ :-)
And if it gets stickier than you can handle, there is always Coach Minda – having your back every step of the way!
This is my first post on social media ever - don't judge me too hard.
Be well, everybody!

Welcome to the online world, where sometimes you get some action (comments and conversations) and other times, No One Is Home. Thank you for posting all the great ways that you are tapping into to keep healthy and sane. You will have to tell me one day about what on earth is Molkky. Thank you Karolina
